Two month check-up

Today we had Aidan’s two month check-up. He is 12 lbs and 7 oz which puts him in a 60%; he is 25 1/5 inches long which is a lot and puts him in greater than 97%; his head circumference is 41 cm which puts him in 75%. Claire the NP who we see said he looks older than a two month old baby, because he is so much taller than most of his age group. She also said that he holds his head up much higher than babies of his age! I guess all that torture of tummy time paid off. He actually does not mind tummy time that bad.
Aidan also got all his two month shots, so we are giving him infant Tylenol all day today (recommended by our NP), because one of the vaccinations is almost expected to cause fever. So far he has been good.

2 months

Well, our baby boy is two months old today! I took a billion of photos, here are 6 that I liked best (I could not choose one). Aidan has his two month check-up tomorrow, so I will update his height and weight soon.

Every day he is more and more interested in the world around him. Now he likes to stay awake when we are in a grocery store – he loves looking at all the colorful things on the shelves. He loves Costco the best, I think because their shelves go so high up that he does not need to move his head in order to see stuff.

For a couple of days Aidan has been enjoying ‘reading’ his first book “It looked like spilt milk”. He likes looking at the pictures – white shapes on a dark navy background. Yesterday he studied a box of Cheerios for about 15 min, very interesting!
He is most definitely a morning person, just like his dad! This morning when he woke up I was on the phone with my mom (who is by the way coming back on December 1st) Aidan just laid there right next to me SMILING and cooing! He is so precious!

But you know, i want more!
Can i be his nanny? Lets u will send me invitation ;-) I'm ready to leave my job :)))))))

3 months

Let’s see what is going on now…
Aidan is over 14 pounds now, he is wearing 3-6 months clothes and they are a perfect fit.  Seems like most of the weight is in his cheeks!
Aidan has been sleeping through the night for a while now. He is actually trying to go to sleep around 8-9 pm, but I wake him up at 11pm for last feeding. He is up every morning by 7:30-8 am. He does not like to nap during the day very much, so we have to make sure he does take regular naps. Naps range anywhere from 10 min to 2 hours and there is no rhyme or reason for that. He regularly naps only in the morning after his first feeding, but everything else changes every day.
We are very lucky to have such an easy baby (while he does get very tired and cranky by the end of the day, which often causes crying), he is very much predictable.
If there was somebody to talk and play with him all day long, he would probably never take a nap! He loves when we talk to him. If nobody is paying attention to him he will start calling out “au auuu auu” while looking at one of us.
He learned how to rock himself in his chair, he figured that if he moves his legs together the chair will rock. Now that looks like a major workout to me, lifting your legs up to your stomach while reclining, but he loves it and rocks himself all the time.
We still have him sleep in the bassinet in our bedroom, but he does not fit in it anymore, so we are talking about moving him in his own bed in his own room. We just need to get the monitor.

Thanksgiving

We have a lot of things to be thankful for this year: wonderful and supportive families – grandparents especially; easy pregnancy; beautiful baby boy and so many more. I have to thank Jason for being such an outstanding husband and a great new dad!
We are also thankful for a yummy Thanksgiving dinner, courtesy of Grandma Terry!

Veteran's Day weekend

We had a very nice weekend. Monday was Veteran’s Day, so it was a three day weekend. Things are so much easier when there is another person in the house! Jason took care of Aidan for most of the weekend, so I have enjoyed it a lot.
We did not do anything special, just some shopping. Aidan needed some more outfits. I really like those footed onsies, so much easier! So we went to TJ Maxx and got some fleece and cotton ones for much less than any other store. On the way back we stopped by Starbucks and it just struck me – Holidays are coming! You know they already have Christmas cups there…I so need to get started with X-Mas shopping.
Aidan has been really fun lately. He is such a good baby! Today he woke up at 5am (he has been up for feedings every 2 hours, but at 5 am he was ready to start the day). Of course I was not so happy, but as soon as I put him in the crib to change him into ‘day’ clothes (he sleeps in a bassinet in our room) he gave me the biggest happiest smile of all which melted my heart. I think he is a morning person, he is always happy and smiling in the morning. He exercised, got a new clean diaper and had a large breakfast. We cuddled a bit afterwards and he fell asleep, what more can you ask for? I was very lucky to get a couple more hours of sleep!
Aidan is getting better and better at holding his head. It is so funny to watch him maneuvering this big head of his – left to right, up and down. He has gotten so curious lately. He loves to go around the house and look at things! If before he would cry only when he was hungry, now he will cry when he is bored.
He started making more and more noises. They are all different, but you can tell the difference between ‘I am bored, so pick me up’ and ‘I am entertaining myself, don’t worry’ noises.

Family

We had some visitors today and last week. Jason's dad and grandfather visited first at the end of October and today we had dad, Cheryl and her mom (Jason's step-grandmother) Joanna. We have received a bunch of gifts, mostly cute baby outfits. Aidan has outgrown newborn size, as well as 0-3 months (mostly), so we were happy to see 3-6 months outfits. He is in between sizes now, smaller stuff hardly fits and 3-6 is a little roomy, but I am sure we will get there in no time!

Here is a photo with now 4 generations of Porterfields: Dale Porterfield (great grandfather), Jay Porterfield (grandfather), Jason and Aidan.
