Does this baby make me look fat?
Here I am. We were cleaning the house last night. Getting ready for our house guests. Jason's sister Dee, her husband and kids are coming to stay with us over the weekend. On Saturday we are all going to the 60th wedding anniversary party of Jason and Dee's grandparents, combined with their grandfather's 80th B-Day! It will be a pool party, I am taking my bathing suit! And yeah, I have a huge belly, giant boobs and dimples on my butt, but you know what? I am pregnant and I am allowed to be fat :)
Anyways, there will be a bunch of close family members and lots of kids and a roasted pig!

You look great, don't worry about it. You are not fat, you just have that great pregnancy glow.
Little Jorge
I wish I had a more clear picture of him. Check out more photos in the 4D album!

Week 28, I am in my third trimester!
Here is what I should have being expecting this week. I found it on-line of course.
“This is it — you're two-thirds to the finish line, as you enter your third and final trimester! And what a difference a trimester makes. Gone, most likely, are the days when you could call pregnancy "comfortable" (that is, if you ever did). These days, your baby's kicking (or lack of) is keeping you up at night and worried during the day, your feet are swollen, you're getting tired all over again, and your backache is a pain that just won't quit. And even though he or she hasn't started crying yet, it may seem that your baby's getting on your nerves already — literally. As your baby gets settled into a proper (you hope) position for birth, his or her head (and your enlarging uterus) may rest on the sciatic nerve in the lower part of your spine. And if that happens, you may feel sharp, shooting pain, tingling, or numbness that starts in your buttocks and radiates down the back of your legs — otherwise known as sciatica. The pain of sciatica can be quite intense at times, and though it may pass if your baby shifts positions, it can also linger until you've delivered.”
I understand that every pregnancy is different, but this stuff is scary. Why do they like to scare us? When I got pregnant, everybody and I mean everybody told me how miserable I am going to be in my first trimester, how OK the second one will be and how horrible it is to be in your third! How about that whole thing with moody pregnant women? Jason got comments like that. When he tells people that I am actually not moody they assure him that it is coming because there is no way a woman can be pregnant and not turn into a crazy hormonal psycho. How sad…Actually my mother was the only person who told me about her happy and non-hormonal-psycho pregnancy. So far, everything she told me is true. First trimester is not necessary hell; it was super easy for me. I did not feel pregnant until I got a belly and the baby started kicking. I did not have mood swings or morning sickness, I was tired, but that is very normal. Second trimester was easy too. My belly is growing, but it is not on my way. I paint my own toes! I do not feel any more tired or hot, than Jason does. I do not have any swelling and I do not have any cravings. My belly button is popping out and I am getting a vertical line on my belly, but this is just a part of pregnancy. Now I am entering third trimester and I feel fine. When I wake up, I actually check if my belly is still there! Sometimes I forget that I have it. That of course until Little Jorge starts moving around, which I rather enjoy. He is getting bigger now, so my whole belly shifts around and you can see his body parts sticking out here and there. Most of the time I can feel his head (it is on my right side) and he loves to poke my belly button out with his elbows and sometimes knees. He started stretching now; it feels so weird! My mom said that by third trimester she was so used to having me with her, that when it was getting closer to my due date she was actually enjoying her pregnancy so much that she did not want to see me leave her belly yet. That’s what I am hoping for too.
I know that I am incredibly lucky to have such a smooth-sailing pregnancy, and my case is more of an exception than the rule. Nevertheless, sometimes it is nice to read about positive things. Therefore, I thought I would share.

We are back.
We are back from Emmitsburg! Finally!
Now we can go back to our normal schedule and routine. Twelve hour days are not fun when you are pregnant and sitting most of the time. To be honest, I did not feel any more tired than I would have if I were not pregnant at all. Long hours are long hours.
Every time we go up there, everybody gets sick, which never really concerned me because I NEVER get sick. Well, last time I was in Emmitsburg I got sick! It was February and I was 10 weeks pregnant and sat in the room with two absolutely miserably sick people. I was out for a week! I could not take anything, so it was just hot decaf tea with honey and lemon and salty water gargling. I was miserable…
This time it was same story with two sick people in front of me! By the end of week one, I thought for sure I was going down with cold as well. My throat was sore, my head was stuffy and I started coughing…Luckily, it lasted only a couple of days and I was fine.
As soon as we got back from Emmitsburg Jason got sick. Now he is spreading his germs around. At the office, we call it “the Emmitsburg curse”!
On a different note, it has been very very very hot out lately! So hot, that some of my plants outside dried out within a day! In addition, the fact that the car is still in the shop is not helping. The reason it’s there is because at the beginning of the month we were sideswiped on 270. Some idiot just merged on top of us. We were not hurt, but the car was damaged. Therefore, we are driving our secondary vehicle, which is a car that was purchased for Jason’s hunting trips and for Charlie. It is not comfortable, air conditioning is poop and it is so noisy! Funny thing, Jason loved it. He kept telling me how much he liked driving it and it was just as good as the other one. I always said that it is a box on wheels. Now, after driving that box for four weeks, Jason is longing for Lexus - it’s quiet comfort and brains. It does have brains!
I am longing for Lexus too. Little Jorge has been a very busy boy lately. I think he is working on some sort of remodeling project in there, so an hour-long ride from work in traffic with poop air conditioning and the most uncomfortable seats is not pleasant at all.
Speaking of Little Jorge…We did a 4D ultrasound last Saturday. I will post some pics as soon as I can. The place we went to was very cute, they do nothing but ultrasounds for fun, so there is nothing medical about the office at all. It actually looks more like a Spa with white fluffy couches and cute pillows. Anyways, we got a peek at our baby again!
To be honest, it was not exactly what I expected. I know that if the baby is not cooperating there is not much you can do, but it seemed like the tech herself did not know how to make it work. May be she just does not have much experience…
Little Jorge was overly busy that morning too and his little face was planted to my belly. Seems like a great position for the ultrasound, unfortunately he was so close that the tech could not put any pressure on my belly to get a better, more clear picture of his face. He kept moving around and his hands were in his face and the cord was there too…However, we did see his giant nose (it seemed giant) and he opened his eyes! So cute! We think he has Jason’s nose and Charlie’s eyes. He did that “crazy eyes” thing that Charlie does, when her brain stops working and her instincts take over! Oh well... we will see what he actually looks like when he is about 6 months old.

Ahhh...
Yesterday I had my first prenatal massage at a little Spa that they opened up near us. It was sooooo nice! I forgot how much I missed Spa; just the smell of it was relaxing…
Next two weeks are going to be crazy busy for us. We are at the grant reviews in Emmitsburg, so this weekend is all about relaxation, at least for me.
Yesterday my day started with yummiest blueberry pancakes and lots of maple syrup. I blame Jason and Little Jorge for that, I never ever liked pancakes before pregnancy! Then we did a little shopping and went out for lunch. I had the yummiest tomato and mozzarella salad. It was so good, I have to go back for more! When we got home I took a nice long nap and went for my massage. After that we just watched TV until dinner time. Jason made some wild salmon and I made some salad for dinner. And listen to this…we opened up a bottle of Pinot!!! I had a glass of wine!!! It was so good, even though the wine was a bit young and had a lot of oak in it; it was still so nice to have a glass of wine with my dinner….And we had ice cream for dessert! It was a perfect day!!!
I probably should not say it, but I think Little Jorge enjoyed the wine, he was dancing!
I definitely should mention this though, Jason’s day started with a jog with Charlie (while I was still sleeping). It was so hot and humid, I thought his head would explode, that’s how red his face was when they got home. Charlie was hot too, but after 30 min she was ready to go again – nothing tires out this one.
And while I was getting my massage (they took me in a bit late, so I was finished late) Jason and Charlie sat in the parking lot for 30 min waiting for me to come out, oops…
At the end of the day my poor Jason had to finish that bottle of Pinot, and you know how hard that is!

Kegels
When we decided that it was time for us to start trying out for a baby, Jason bought himself a Daddy Book to get prepared. It basically, tells you what to expect during pregnancy from a guy’s point of view. Very good book.
Jason would read it to me in bed and that’s how the Kegel thing started. He read that it is very much recommended for pregnant and not only women to do Kegels. We both agreed on the importance of the exercise and he made me promise to do Kegels everyday to help me during and after pregnancy.
Every now and then, he would ask me if I have been doing my Kegels and I would say I have. Nevertheless, me saying yes was not enough. One day he was getting ready for a workout and told me that since he has not seen me doing any Kagels I should go with him and do my Kegels while he is working out. I had better things to do, so I said no. He started pleading and even offered to do Kegels with me.
-What? You will do Kegels with me? How?
Jason said he would lay down next to me and do Kegels as well!!! At this point I was laughing so hard that I was crying! Of course, he could not figure out why him doing Kegels was so funny; turns out all that time he thought that it was some sort of a pelvic thrust type exercise! Such a silly boy!

Pregnancy findings.
Maternity clothes suck!
If you are size 12 before you get pregnant – you are lucky, all maternity clothes will fit you. If you are size 0 and your body is not capable of growing hips – then you are out of luck! This is where I am finding myself – pantless! I think people who make maternity clothes secretly despise the pregnant body, otherwise why on earth would they make maternity Capri pants? Imagine a pregnant woman…larger breasts, big round belly, wider hips (for the lucky ones) and may be a little thicker legs. Sounds about right, like a pear but upside down. So why on earth would a pear want to put on Capri pants? To make her already shorter looking legs (thanks to all roundness on top) even shorter and wider?
Stretching muscles are not fun!
I was expecting other types of pain and discomfort, you know like back pain or headache or heartburn at least. What I am getting so far is stomach muscle stretching. It is so weird, because I have never exercised in my life (well a little bit in school and first year of collage), but sometimes I feel like I have been doing crunches. And my belly is so hard and so tight that I think I will just explode one day!
Exercising during pregnancy is great! (If you know what you are doing).
Last night I finally got my Pregnancy Yoga DVD. I rented it from Netflix after I could not stand Jason’s nagging anymore. You see, Jason is working out 3 times a week and rides his bike the rest of the week, and he is LOVING it. I should say, I am loving it too, he looks great and I know he feels great as well. Anyways, he has been trying to get me to exercise since forever, but as you know – You can take a horse to the water, but you cannot make it drink. Anyways, last night we put the DVD in and did the whole thing. Jason was following a girl in her first trimester and I was following a girl in her second trimester and sometimes the one in her third. Let me tell you, you have to do it so many times to figure out what exactly your body is supposed to be doing and you should definitely put your dog some place far away from you.
Charlie was so silly and I could not stop laughing. She could not figure out why her dad was on the floor but would not cuddle with her. She did all sorts of things trying to get his attention. After being pushed away so many times, she gave up on him and came to harass me. I was trying to do that leg-stretching thing on the floor, so she came over sat between my stretched out legs as close to me as possible, put her head down, so her forehead was touching mine and her nose was against mine and stared at me! Just like that! I could not stop laughing! Of course once you laugh all hell breaks loose!
Overall experience was OK. I pulled my neck muscle ( I was trying to look up at the screen while doing some pose on all fours), my butt was hurting later in the day from all the stretching ( I guess I did not do it right) and I did not sleep well (muscles in my rib cage were pulling).

Week 24
Here is what's going on (I found it on-line):
"Your baby weighs more than a pound and a half right now and sports a crown-to-rump length of about eight and a half inches (standard letter size!).
Wondering what (and who) your baby will look like? If you had a baby cam, you'd almost be able to tell by now. That beautiful face (though still tiny) is almost fully formed. What's still missing from the picture is the fat that will be piled on under baby's skin. Until those fat deposits are made, that very tender skin is still very transparent, which means a close look would let you see clear through to all the organs, bones, and blood vessels. Fortunately, that see-through look won't last much longer. Babies at this point are gaining about six ounces each week — with much of that gain coming from fat, in addition to growing organs, bones, and muscle.
What's been playing on your little rocker's stereo system these days? All kinds of sounds: from air exhaling from your lungs (deep breath now), those gastric gurgles produced by your stomach and intestines, your voice and your partner's (which your baby will be able to recognize at birth), and even very loud sounds such as honking horns, barking dogs, or a wailing fire truck."
This is interesting. Last weekend Jason and I went to the movies and the baby kept kicking all the time. Jason was the one who figured it was because of the loud noise of the movie. It was "Pirates f the Caribbean 3". Not bad, but not as good as the very first movie. I will miss Captain Jack though.
Today Little Jorge would not stop kicking either! Totally distracting! And some of the kicks are so strong! I swear he is head-butting me, I felt something very round trying to poke a hole in my belly. This is just 24 weeks!
Oh yeah, my ligaments are apparently stretching, not fun at all. It ranges from dull discomfort to sharp spasm-like pain. Not much I can do about it. Couch surfing seems like a good idea!
I have scheduled 3/4D Ultrasound for June 24th - cannot wait! I will post all the pictures and I think it also comes with a video, so exited!
