Now We Make Three
we've been over that before.
But things are slightly different now,
now that we've added one more.
He's looking to us as we're looking to you,
one more tiny set of footprints,
learning what to do.
Just like in the woods on our hikes,
we'll step where you step and be okay.
We're trying hard to learn your lessons,
to listen and obey.
Be strong, get along,
daily work your brain.
In life we can go wherever, be whatever,
and you'll be there to help us through any pain.
From your girls, from your son,
from your kids one, two , and three.
Happy Father's Day, we love you,
thank you for helping us grow
into who we will be.

Five
my sweet little girls are turning five!
Five years ago two tiny babies were born too early,
we prayed so hard that you'd thrive.
Thrive you did,
now you're five years old.
None of us can know,
what this year will hold.
One thing that I do know,
is how I want it spent.
I want to share each day with you,
I will cherish every moment.

When We Hold You
Who knows what you'll look like,
or how tall you'll be.
Will you take after your sisters and look just like Daddy,
or will you look like me?
Will you get the genes the rest of us have,
and be petite and small?
Or will you get that lone height gene,
and actually be tall?
Will your little head be bald,
or will you have a lot of hair?
Will it be dark and thick,
or will your locks be fair?
Will your eyes be green,
will they be that beautiful blue?
Or will what we see blinking up at us,
be a color completely new?
There are so many things we don't know yet,
but I know we'll be filled with joy.
From the moment we see your face,
when we're finally holding our baby boy.

That is a beautiful poem. You have such a wonderful gift of being able to put what is in your heart into words for others to read.and understand with their hearts. Congratulations!

Our Two Year Olds
your first year went by so fast.
Then on to self feeding and climbing,
I just blinked and another year passed.
You both are growing and learning,
you change each day right in front of me.
Once only signing "help please",
now insisting loudly, "I do it Mommy!"
It's amazing to hear the developing words,
and now the new sentences you say.
You girls make me smile, make me laugh,
you warm my heart each day.
Personalities emerged and bonds have strengthened,
it fills me with such pride.
Oh how I love watching the two of you grow,
I just can't even describe the way it makes me feel inside.

Make a Jack O' Lantern
I'll show you how how how it's done.
You simply scoop out a little bit of pumpkin,
and cut a pumpkin face for fun.
Inside we'll put put put a candle,
to make a shine shine shiny light.
We'll make a fine jack o lantern for our window,
to grin at people in the night.

Our Father's Day Poem
as you encouraged us to grow and grow.
When we arrived so early,
your tender touch helped us to do so.
As the months passed,
you continued to snuggle us close to you.
Helping us to explore and learn,
to experience all of these wonders exciting and new.
Now we're making up for those months,
when our love we couldn't display.
We can't help but run to you for hugs and kisses,
all throughout the day.
Continue to hold our hands Daddy,
and stay close by our side.
As we look to you for how to live in this great big world,
as our tiny feet follow in your stride.

A Poem for Our Daddy
we can't help but smile.
We know that soon you'll drop everything,
and play with us for a while.
You teach us something everyday,
you know we love to learn.
To taste new foods, speak new words,
to play new games, and how to wait our turn.
Every day is an adventure for us,
and we're so blessed to have you as our guide.
To know that when we call our Daddy,
he'll be right by our side.

Mommy's Milk - A Poem
when your life first began.
That's not how I'd envisioned starting things,
but we made ourselves a new plan.
And so it began,
our Mommy's milk journey.
We began to figure things out,
as we forged ahead ever so slowly.
When you finally came home,
you still couldn't nurse from me.
You were just too small,
you couldn't spare the energy.
You grew and grew,
and then you learned how.
It still wasn't easy,
not even now.
I started to nurse,
with both of you right there.
But you wouldn't stay,
you had no patience to share.
The road started off rough and slow,
but then flew by rapidly.
As day after day and month after month,
you snuggled up to nurse happily.
Then just as slowly as you began,
you started to be done.
As you began to drop feedings,
one by one.
That brings us to the present,
this journey is over for us today.
At times I thought I'd be ready,
but now, after 18 months, this is so sad for me to say.
I was blessed to have those times,
to share in those moments with you.
Thank you my healthy little ladies,
thank you my precious two.

Babies No More - a poem
how blessed I am to have this chance.
To see your whole face smile, to have the affection you show,
to watch you as you explore to learn, as you grow.
You are gaining independence daily,
you never cease to amaze me.
The wonderful bond the two of you share,
I can't imagine seeing just one of you there.
My babies are toddlers all of the sudden it seems,
and in being your Mother I'm living my dreams.

Abby & Zoë - a poem
I wanted to do the very best for you that I could.
It was difficult in the beginning, being sick all the time you know.
I told myself it would pass... and it did, as my belly began to show.'
Then it got so frightening, when things began to look bad.
It was so scary and so heartbreaking, for me and for your Dad.
You threatened to come so early, they gave us our horrible odds.
They told us to make decisions, I began pleading with God.
I prayed and prayed and prayed some more, and so many others did too.
As I prayed for God to keep you safe from harm, I began to know that was something He would do.
Here you are now happy and healthy,
you will always be surrounded in love by your Daddy and me.

Brokendown - a poem
like never before, torn apart.
My heart, my soul, my entire being,
lower than I've ever known before.
Completely depleted of my strength,
my hope... seemed only a memory.
Lost, empty, devastated, crushed,
with no idea what to make of anything.
Meanwhile, two of the tiniest lives I've ever known... flourishing.
Ahead of the game, no idea of the things that,
to me, were sure to come.
Every poke, every kick as if to say,
"We're alive and healthy as ever, don't give up on us."
