A Day in Pre-K
Abby, Zoë, and I arrived at Bethel School just before the kids came in for lunch. The girls enjoyed eating their lunch at the tables with the other kids, as well as having mats of their own to go lie down on. Zoë was so excited when she found the mat with her things on it. So excited in fact, that she ended up not sleeping, neither of the girls did. The routine that the teachers have in this room is that they pat backs of those who still nap for about half an hour, until 1:30, and then those that are still awake are offered something quiet to do on their mats. Abby and Zoë weren't quite asleep when they saw other kids getting toys, and that was the end of napping. At 2:00, the kids that were awake were able to go into the other room and play with the things in there.
Abby and Zoë both got computer time as well as drawing pictures with their two friends that they used to be in the "toddler two's" with, Kelsey and Savanna... they even both drew Abby and Zoë pictures to bring home. During this time snack was being set out, and Zoë kept trying to go out and sit herself down to eat before it was time. After all that anticipation, it was hard to keep Abby and Zoë at the table to finish snack, as all of the other kids were running off to play.
At the end of the day during playground time, because it was very hot and humid outside, we stayed inside instead and the kids got to watch a Caillou video... my least favorite pbs show. We had to leave during the movie, and that's when the no napping effects kicked in full force. Needless to say, we had an early bed time tonight.
Abby @ 3 years, 8 months, 24 days
