Recovery Day One
I'm so glad we took advantage of the option to stay overnight at the hospital. In the wee hours of the morning, about 3:00 a.m. Zoë woke up really upset about her tummy hurting. I noticed that her diaper was dry (we had put them in diapers for the night since they still had i.v. fluids being pumped through them) and she hadn't gone pee in hours so we tried that and sure enough, after going about a gallon of pee, she felt better. We were all up at this point, as I had Abby go potty also. Her diaper was somewhat wet, but she peed a lot too. After this I just ended up curling up at the end of Abby and Zoë's bed with my pillow, since I was getting up so much I figured this would just be easier for everyone.
I woke up this morning and just sat at the end of the bed for a few minutes before actually getting up. It was sweet to see the girls sleeping snuggled together, and I could see that their chests made their arms rise and fall at the exact same time as they breathed in time with each other. During the day they would just reach over and give each other hugs and kisses.
Abby and Zoë took a liking to their i.v. machines and called them "beepy" and insisted on pushing the machine into the bathroom on their own when they had to pee. They both actually got pouty when it was time for the nurse to take out their iv's and take their "beepy" machines away.
Abby and Zoë's voices do sound different, Zoë's more so than Abby's. Dr. Rankin explained to us that Zoë's adenoids were bigger than Abby's so we're wondering if this could account for some of that. I think that part of the reason the girls are talking differently is because things are swollen, especially their uvulas, which are huge! We checked out this morning around 9:00 a.m. Abby and Zoë both got to choose an item from the "treasure chest" and then they shared a wheelchair downstairs and just outside the doors.
Abby @ 3 years, 9 months, 12 days
Zoë @ 3 years, 9 months, 12 days
Enzo expected in 11 months, 27 days
