Recovery Day Eight
Abby and Zoë are feeling a bit better today and I've started weaning them off of their pain medicine. Having a distraction may have helped keep their minds off of things... Grandma Cindy and Tikva came over today after arriving late last night. My mom will be teaching a training in Ma. again tomorrow through Monday, but she was able to get a little visit in before having to head down. Neither of the girls napped today when they were supposed to, Abby didn't yesterday either. It's difficult when they wake up so much later than normal, because they are definitely ready for naps later, just not until like 3:00. We went to Wal-Mart, where both girls got to take turns walking Tikva on her short leash - since she's a 'Working Dog', she's able to go into the store - around while we did our shopping, a nice distraction.
Grandma Cindy had wanted to treat us to dinner and we had planned on just ordering in, given the crankies Abby and Zoë were exhibiting, but then they fell asleep on the way home from the store and we let them grab a cat nap while we unloaded the groceries. Since they were still sleeping we decided to go ahead and just go to the restaurant. As we were leaving the driveway, Abby then Zoë woke up so I gave them their medicine then. It must have been just the right amount of time before dinner, and also that they're just getting an appetite back, because they ate so much. We went to Taipei Tokyo, where the girls started with miso soup, edemame, and seaweed salad. Then Zoë ate a very good portion of my terriyaki salmon along with some rice and broccoli. She also ate some of Grandma Cindy's chicken. Abby had some of my salmon, a good amount of Grandma Cindy's chicken, a piece of Daddy's spider roll, and rice and focused mostly on the miso soup. Abby and Zoë finished dinner off with tri-flavored fortune cookies and orange slices, which I was surprised weren't stinging their throats.
After finally deciding they were full, both of the girls were excited to check out the big fish in the tank that they'd been eying during dinner. Thanks Grandma Cindy!
