Midweek School Lessons

This morning we started with a "how does it end" game.  There were rows of picture cards and the girls had to pick out which picture ended with the same sound as the first one in the row.  It took some work, as we had been working a lot with beginning sounds previously.  They both started to catch on, tomorrow I think we'll do this one again, with new picture card rows.  Next we sat in a "circle" and I explained the game we were going to play then I said that I was going on a trip to the playground and what I was going to bring.  Zoë had to say what I was going to bring and then what she was going to bring that rhymed with my item, on Abby's turn she had to say our two plus one more that rhymed.  We may do this game again tomorrow with beginning or ending sounds, or choose a new game working with the same things.

After nap I set out the number memory match game I made.  Abby and Zoë have recognition of numbers 1-10 down, but we need to work on numbers 11-20 so I took index cards, cut them in half and wrote the same number on each side so that we had pairs from 11-20.  I also spelled out the number below the numerals.  Abby and Zoë love memory match, so this was a good way to work on recognizing the numbers.  They both had some good guesses on ones they weren't sure of, such as "five-teen" "three-teen".

Abby @ 3 years, 9 months, 26 days
Zoë @ 3 years, 9 months, 26 days
Enzo expected in 11 months, 14 days
