Making Boba

Yes, this is art.  All cooking is a form of art as far as I am concerned.  We have never cooked boba before, so this was a great learning experience for everyone.  We bought the quick boba variety at the market yesterday as it was all they had.  We were disappointed as we were looking for the regular variety.  There was also a multi-colored quick variety, which the girls wanted, but I avoided due to the added dyes and processing.  Although the package said 5 minutes, it was more like 20 minutes.  Who knows, maybe a horrible Chinese translation.  This translation on the package has me slightly concerned. "The starch used as protection on the surface is natural, please be at ease to enjoy it!"  Yeah, it is asking me rather kindly to be at ease to enjoy it, with an exclamation mark of all things.  The girls helped measure out the sugar and honey mixture that will sweeten the bobas as they rest.  We only made a half cup of bobas, not knowing if we would like them or not, but they were a huge hit, so we will make a larger quantity next time.  They are so much fun to chew on.  I can see how people are addicted to these little guys.
