Abby, Zoë and Enzo

We all went in for my first pre-natal appointment, with the nurse practitioner, Julia today.  After going over the blood work and all of the paper work type stuff, it was time for the exam.  As I was undressing to put on the gown, Abby and Zoë kept asking why I had to take my clothes off.  I explained that it was so that I could get checked out and make sure I'm all healthy, just like they do at their doctor appointments, except that I get a gown to put on.  Chris set the girls up with magazines on the floor and waited while Julia set to work trying to find the heart beat.  She found it for a second and then lost it and then found it again.  It was a really strong heart beat, which we love to hear.  It was also super fast, at a rate of 170.  Julia found the reason for the occasional spotting I was having (some blood vessels that hadn't tucked away where they're supposed to be yet, nothing to worry about) and also noted that my cervix, the trouble maker last time around, is just as it should be.  We'll be having a consult with a Dr. down in Boston soon about getting a cerclage.
