Authentic Chinese Food Experience

Today we had lunch at Jin Asian Restaurant on Route 1 in Saugus Mass.  It was an incredible experience.  We pass this restaurant every time we're coming back from the Boston area and have just never tried it.  It is this huge elaborate building up on the hill.  It was two different things before becoming Jin's, and coming up to the doors we didn't know what we'd find.  We got directed up an escalator to the dining room where we were seated and given menus.  As we were looking over the menus, a woman with a cart full of plated foods came by.  Someone else was with her and told us to try something, that the kids would like it, so we agreed.

Finally a woman speaking English came by to explain things to us, after we told her that we'd never been to the restaurant before and were new to this.  There was the option of ordering from the menu, but she said if we wanted authentic chinese food and and authentic experience, that we should go with the dim sum being pushed around on various carts.  We went ahead and gave our menus up and opted for the experience.  At $2 a plate for dim sum, why not try it out?  We decided that it was probably a good sign that everyone else, and I do mean everyone else in the place was Asian.  We tried some dumplings and shrimp rolls, fried squid, crunchy noodles, and also this rice dish that came with a chicken's foot on top.  We had this yummy pork triangle thing that seemed kind of like a dessert, and then the woman who had been helping us brought over some sesame balls 'on her' since we told her we hadn't tried them but that we were ready to close the check.  She was a very friendly and helpful lady and we really enjoyed the experience, as well as the gorgeous atmosphere.

Ditto, Grandma Cindy...sounds like you had a delightful dining experience. I don't know about the chicken foot...I  think I could do without that pleasure!!

ooh, I'm sure you had a great lunch there.
I remember seeing that place when I come out to see you on the way from the Boston airport. I have always wanted to stop in there.Maybe when Papa Norm and I come out this summer, we can eat there.
